This is an amazing spot to go with small groups or on date night! The lighting is warm and romantic and I love sitting at the bar. You can’t go wrong with any sushi pieces or the eggplant (DELICIOUS! One of the best I’ve had!) and the fried ice cream is delicious and delightful to crack into.
There’s parking available in the lot behind the place, just fair warning that the entrance isn’t super obvious — it’s a giant door without a sign. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because they consistently have forgotten part of my order, which delayed the meal.
I love this sushi bar, the lunch bento box was great! The snow crab hand rolls are amazing, and the seabream nigiri are delicious! The tempura was light and not greasy like other tempuras and the sea weed salad was elevated with saffron. Great atmosphere and great drinks!
Overall score 4.5 out out of 5
Location is great
Staff is very friendly and awesome service
This is for sure one of my favorite sushi spots in Austin. All of the sushi was spectacular.
Definitely go here and check it out.
It’s that simple.
I had high expectations but overall just an average sushi spot. We went around 230 in the afternoon so it wasn’t that busy. I do have a smaller service dog that they wouldn’t let sit inside, it was a cool day out so I agreed to the patio.
The sake cocktails are delicious and I’d rate the Japanese Uni a 4 star! We ordered an assortment of sashimi and nigiri with 1 roll which were all well enough but nothing extraordinary.
The bottle of wine we ordered before our food didn’t arrive until 3 or 4 of our courses were on the table which was disappointing. It eventually starting raining so we stood against the restaurant window wall finishing our wine and avoiding the rain before we left. Not an experience I’d repeat for the $300+ price tag.
The food is very good but I think overpriced. The special roll with tuna, avocado and shishito tempura was excellent. The Japanese mackerel, salmon, and trout sashimi were also terrific. The specialty nigiri were fantastic except that we didn’t care as much for the squid tentacles. Service was spotty and somewhat inattentive. The restaurant is loud, very loud and the seating is not all that comfortable but no one seemed to mind.
Overall a good lunch experience. The decor was very clean and modern and the service was excellent. The food tasted good but like some of the other reviews, it is a bit over priced. The hand roll was visually nice but difficult and messy to eat. Plus hand rolls are nice when it’s immediately served so the nori has a crunch. Our hand roll nori lacked the crunch factor.
Been here twice. I wasn’t impressed the first time (almost 2 years ago) but I wanted sushi last minute and close to home, so thought I’d give it another try. Got some Shishito peppers for an appetizer and one of them was SOOO spicy I had to ask for ice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯” not super common but I guess can be expected . The yellowtail nigiri was buttery, the yellowtail roll with scallion and ponzu was great. My bf got spicy tuna and didn’t enjoy it as much. The salmon crunchy hand roll was not super flavorful, salmon didn’t taste fresh. Also one hand roll roll was $12! (Yukon handroll bar-$6.50) I do love the interior design of the place . Our server did not seem happy to be there though :) I think for Uchi prices I would have loved it to be better :)
Great service, ambiance and food was amazing! Still talking about the oyster! Tasmanian trout was recommended by the service. Our first time trying and it did not disappoint.
